Myofascial Release and Beyond.
The primary focus of this introductory hands on course is the fascial or connective tissue system. A new perspective is developed where the fascial system is viewed as integrated, interdependent three dimensional whole surrounding, supporting and giving structural integrity to the muscular, articular, osseous, nervous, visceral, vascular, and lymphatic systems. Light touch palpatory skills are taught to identify restrictions within this matrix. Assessment tools are developed to explore the impact these restrictions have on the body as a whole, and in particular what the client or patient maybe complaining of. Finally, simple release techniques are taught that can be easily integrated into your current practice.
Course goals
After attending the course, you will have:
A better understanding of global fascial anatomy and the role that a restriction within the system can play in movement dysfunction.
A conceptual framework into which you can integrate fascial work into your current practice.
Improved palpatory skills with regard to the evaluation of the fascial system and the location of primary restrictions.
An additional dimension to your clinical reasoning in relationship to patient assessment and treatment.
Testimonials
It would be no exaggeration for me to say that Stuart's ‘Myofascial release and beyond' course changed my view of the world. In just 1 day it challenged my beliefs and changed the way I had worked with sports massage over the last 10 years. I have been out of my comfort zone ever since and relishing the rewards that this new approach to treatment have provided. Thank you.

My skills in palpation have developed beyond my greatest expectations since attending this course. The skills gained have helped heighten more than my sense of touch. I work with greater confidence and intuition. Your clients will benefit so much more from the skills you will gain on this course.

Stuart's one day course was a mind opening day to developing a deeper sense of feel and working with greater intuition. New skills were picked up with confidence with Stuart's guidance.
Julie Thornalley, sports massage therapist.
"I would recommend this course to every physiotherapist. It will broaden your understanding of the human body, deepen your clinical reasoning and add an invaluable tool to your treatment options."
Kirsty Hyndes MMedSci MCSP, Lecturer, Nottingham Univ.
'After doing the myofascial release and beyond course with Stuart I
found I was able to' listen' to my hands and really feel what was
going on within the tissues. As a result the tissues were more
responsive. I now feel much more connected to the tissues when I work . I also learnt to take a much wider view on the problem and
look at the whole body in order to solve the problem.'
Lynn Rae, Sports massage therapist
‘Even the most sceptical MSc students are impressed…fascial release is an extremely useful procedure and I believe in the next 5/6 years , physiotherapists working in virtually every discipline should take it on board.'
Ann Thomson, FCSP, MUniv, MSc, BA, DipTP, MMACP. Director UCL Postgraduate Physiotherapy Studies.
The one day session on myofascial release and beyond was a fantastic introduction to the approach Stuart Robertson takes on his advanced course. It awoke my interest to explore how the fascia of other body systems may be accessed and worked positively and subtly in a massage setting to provide a more effective treatment.
